Location
Only a short walk to the village of Cowichan Bay waterfront, Park Place is ideally situated to take advantage of a wide variety of local amenities. Victoria bound commuters will enjoy easy access to the Trans Canada Highway from Cowichan Bay Road with Victoria only 30 minutes south and both Mill Bay and Duncan only 10 minutes away and offering good shopping.
Cowichan Bay is a rural community (Electoral Area D) and part of the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD). Park Place itself is situated near a popular cross roads locals know as “Four Ways” and has frontage on Cowichan Bay Road and backing on to a large dedicated park land. The Park Place development offers a distinctive rural park-like setting where farms and residential neighbourhoods meet. The area is friendly to families, professionals and retirees alike.
Travelers and “snowbirds” will appreciate Park Place’s mid way location between Victoria and Nanaimo which provide BC Ferry access points and airports (international too) only a short hour drive in either direction. There are also Seattle and Washington State bound Ferries within that same hour drive and floatplane service is available right in Cowichan Bay with Pat Bay Air.
Amenities

There are numerous local amenities right in the bay that include: marinas with permanent and transient moorage, one of the few fuel docks in the area, government dock, Fisherman’s wharf with seafood often available right off the boats, free public boat launch, pub, hotel, fine and casual dining, bakery, deli/cheese shop, ice cream store, retail shops, fish shop, kayak and whale watching tour operators, art gallery, museum, wooden boat school, liquor store, post office, parks and more. Cowichan Bay is the perfect place to kick about for a relaxed afternoon of browsing or a fish and chips lunch. Local waters provide good crabbing and prawning and fishing just outside of the bay.
For golfers there’s the Arbutus Ridge Golf Course to the south and the Cowichan Golf and Country Club to the north,
both 5 minutes in either direction. As well, there is a host of other nearby golf courses and you can golf here almost year round.
Speaking of weather, one will note a significant number of vineyards in the immediate area that are here as a result of a unique micro-climate that is the closest to the Mediterranean in all of Canada. High average seasonal temperatures and a high number of days of sunshine are great for wineries, tourists and locals alike. Why not grab lunch at Cherry Point Vineyards while you contemplate your new home at Park Place and this truly unique place in the world.
Another thing worth mentioning is the area schools. Two world class private schools, Brentwood College and Shawnigan School are only minutes away and a top notch public elementary school, Bench School, is literally a brief walk down the road. A good network of School bus routes is close at hand and Park Place is on the local Public Transit Route.
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy a myriad of hiking trails throughout the region as well as the famous Trans Canada Trail and Cowichan Footpath which also offers world class Steelhead and Trout fishing.
